Travi$ Scott’s debut LP could be dropping this week

If all is true we will be getting Houston rapper Travi$ Scott’s debut LP “Rodeo” sometime later this week. In an interview with Tim Westwood, Scott touched on the album, saying that it will definitely be out before August but it was Westwood who said that it will be dropping next week. You could tell it was a bit up a slip up by the way he said it and the way Scott reacted. He looked like he wanted to say something but bit his tongue and didn’t. That exchange is around the 4:30 mark of the video.

Scott goes on to talk about Kanye and working with him on his new album and his relationship with Rihanna in the interview among other things. Check out the interview below.

Behind Tha Scenes: Scarface

Imagine a rapper who has rapped alongside 2pac, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Nas, and Kendrick Lamar and I’m not talking that bs posthumous feature type deal. I’m talking been in the studio with them and recorded together. There is only one man on this planet that can say he has done that and that man is Brad Jordan aka Scarface.

Growing up in Houston’s South Acres, Scarface knew struggle from day one. Growing up poor in the ghetto and being exposed to hard drugs at a young age which included his uncle who Scarface says “Got high and never came down”. This drove Scarface into depression at such a young age. Around the age of twelve or thirteen he tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrists. Not long after that he was shipped off to the psych ward at Houston International Hospital.

After his release from the hospital Scarface moved out of his parents home, dropped out of high school, and moved in with producer John Bido. In his early rap career Scarface went by the name Dj Akshen, pronounced action. After recording the single “Scarface/Another head put to rest” he was offered a record deal from then fledgling record company Rap-A-Lot records and also joined the main group on the label the Geto Boys.

After being bolstered to the forefront of southern rap from his work with the Geto Boys, a ¬†large part due to the controversy of their lyrics which included extreme violence and very explicit language, Scarface blasted out hit record after hit record during the 90’s. A few of them being Mr. Scarface is back, The Diary, and The Untouchable.

His biggest success, commercially and critically came in the early 2000’s. He dropped The Last Of A Dying Breed in 2000 and then dropped The Fix in 2002. Both of them are critically acclaimed and appear in many best rap albums lists.

It was during this time Scarface also climbed his way to the top of Def Jam South records. He brought in huge talent such as Ludacris and Young Jeezy. Then in 2007 he released his latest studio album Emeritus which received universal acclaim from the critics.

Scarface’s next album is currently slated to be released sometime this year. He said in an interview that he is going to pull a Beyonce and Drake and drop his¬†album out of nowhere . We will just have to wait and see if it drops.
